Anniversary #3

I had such a great day yesterday, I thought I better write about it so I don't forget. I'm sure if John were here, we'd have done something much grander since he loved to travel and do "big" things, but, well... he's not. And I didn't want to do something big alone. So, I filled the day with the most important thing in my life right now: JOHNNY!

We started out the morning with a bike ride. I pulled Johnny in the bike trailer. It was a beautiful morning and we did a long ride out to Centerville. Half way through we stopped at a park so Johnny could play, then we rode back home. Took about an hour and a half.

When we got back we looked at lots of picture of John on the computer, and then some movies. Johnny kept saying, "Again!" with the movies. He loved them and definitely knows his daddy.

Johnny took his nap and I showered and got ready. When he woke up we ate lunch and then I drove him down to Salt Lake. I decided to show him where I worked so that when I have to tell him mommy's at work, he will know where I mean. So we parked downtown and took the stroller. We visited my work and walked around by the temple and saw all the construction workers on South Temple. He thought the whole thing was grand! I can't believe I've never walked around downtown with him. He kept pointing out everything, like the seagulls, temple, trucks, and workers. :)

About 3:30 we drove to the Avenues where my cousin Heather had agreed to watch Johnny so I could go get a massage. I got an aromatherapy massage at the Avenues Day Spa. It was heavenly!!! It was so relaxing; just what I needed. While I laid there I was transported to our wedding day -- how perfect it was. They are sweet memories.

In the mean time, Heather took Johnny to some parks by her house and was a great Auntie Cousin to him. He helped her organize her food shelves, too. What a good boy he is! I stayed and chatted with Heather for an hour or so then we left.

I really wanted to go out to dinner, so Johnny took me out to eat at Marcellos, an amazing authentic Italian restaurant in Bountiful. John first took me there for our first Valentine's day together. We pretty much had the place to ourselves so I asked to sit at the same table. It was so fun, and Johnny made the best date! We even shared our food. :)

After dinner we came home and had some cookie dough ice cream. I put Johnny down to bed, after singing him some songs, and then I watched John and my favorite movie: Hitch.

It was a really nice day; couldn't have been better. After all, not every anniversary can be cruises and trips and expensive jewelry, right? The most important thing is being with those you love most, and being with Johnny fills almost every void in my heart. Almost.

What a great day. I remember when we came out to visit you and John (mostly you :) ) gave Steve Hitch for his birthday. We LOVE that movie too! And yes, Johnny does an incredible job at filling empty places in hearts.

Hi Emily - you probably don't remember me - I only saw you at one girls camp meeting in Pensacola - my husband was going through training down at NAS Pensacola. Anyways my neighbor just told me about your blog and I am so glad I found it. I actually think of you often and wondered how you were doing. Your blog helps me to remember to appreciate every day I have with my husband and remember to speak kinder and be more patient because we never know how long we have. Thank you for your blog and your example. Your son is seriously the cutest boy!

The more that times passes, the more glad and thankful I am that you have that precious little Johnny and share him to fill the void that is with so many of us. I love you both dearly.

Sounds like it was nearly a perfect day. Are you working at Price or the FHL?
