Working at last!

Good news -- I have finally "gone" back to work! My commute isn't bad, the environment couldn't be better, there is a cafeteria just down the hall, I work my own hours -- it's perfect. Did I mention that I work from home? :) Yep, I am working for the same genealogy firm that I worked for in Salt Lake. But now they have me working remotely. It's awesome. I got a sweet new computer, monitor, keyboard, speakers, and printer for the job. Of course we had to pay for that, but hey, it's tax deductable! It's so nice to be working with genealogy again every day. I really love it. And what a blessing to be able to have my job follow me around wherever John's job takes us!!

As a side note, I am re-reading "The Eight" by Katherine Neville. It's a "feminist answer to Raider's of the Lost Ark" as one critic put it. But it's really not that feminist. It just has women as the main characters. Anyway, it's fantastic and it's based around the game of chess. I really recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, drama, romance, chess, mathematics, history, and doesn't mind violence (people often wind up dead). If you read it, let me know what you think.

It is about time! I don't know if I am more excited that you have a computer and internet, or you are working finally, or that you read my blog before paying bills. In any case I love that you have done this site so that I can keep up with you too. Cause gosh knows you don't use the phone much.:)
Sis-I miss my best friend and think of you daily. Every day I think, "I need to call Em for a run tonight" and then, realize that I am on my own. So what do I do? I don't go.
So don't worry little sis, I do miss you but I also have an awesome excuse to not exercise like "Why are you getting so fat?" "Cause my sister moved." Cool huh!
I usually don't count down the days til Christmas, one I am not 5 anymore, and two, it is THE MOST expensive time of year. But this year is different. I am anxiously awaiting your visit!
Just think, you have BEACHES when you are blue. I have Target...not quite the same.
Love you.

Yay for going back to work and yay for joining the blogging world. It's rather addicting, so watch out! I would probably post every day if my schedule allowed me (and I had an adventurous enough life to have something to say every single day). I just have to settle for random days when I can spare a minute. Thanks for keeping me in the loop! Love ya girl!

Hi Emily! This is Aly Porter. Thanks for adding me as a friend on facebook. I hope you don't mind me checking out your blog...anyway...I wanted to say congrats at getting back to work! I work from home as well and I LOVE it! I have been doing it for the past year and a half now! Isn't it so nice that you can take your job wherever you go?? You never have to worry about not being able to find a job when you move. That is really neat you work doing geneology! Glad to hear all is well with you! Are you baseball fans too? We are. Tell your in-laws that I say hi! My maiden name is Bullock (we knew them in CO). That is how they will know me! :)
