Summer Hikes

This summer Johnny has really gotten a taste of the Great Outdoors. I try to take every opportunity to do things outside and go on adventures. I'm not sure if it's because of this or not, but Johnny is very interested in birds, dogs, and airplanes -- and anything else that makes a noise and moves about.

Our first hike. . . The Bonneville Shoreline Trail

Mom had to take the Scouts on a 5 mile hike so the day before I went with her to walk the trail and hide treats for them to find along the way. It was the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, and we hiked 4 miles from Farmington to Centerville.





























































Hike #2 . . . Elephant Rock

Alan wanted to introduce hiking to Whitney in preparation of an overnighter he was planning with her. He invited me and mom to hike with them to Elephant Rock, above Mueller Park in Bountiful early one Saturday. It was a 7-mile round trip hike which we completed in about 3 hours. It was beautiful and so fun.

Hike #3 . . . Lake Mary

On July 4th I organized a hike to Lake Mary with my good friends Tommy, Doris, and Tom. It was supposed to be a 6-mile round trip hike, but we got "diverted" which added to the length. We packed a picnic and enjoyed our lunch on the rocks, while the guys skipped rocks. I must say, they were pretty good! This was the most difficult hike I've done with Johnny so far, and I was pretty nervous during parts of it, as we climbed over rocks and through mud and up and down hills. Everyone was very helpful, and Johnny did great.

Hike #4 . . .

This weekend we're doing The Narrows in Zion's!!! Hang on, little man!
